I Finally have a smart phone!

That’s right, I finally have a smart phone. I have been waiting a long time :) Remember back in July of 2007, the iPhone shipped? Well, back then I was deciding on whether to get a smart phone, or just get a new phone. I spent some time playing with the iPhone, but decided on a regular phone. I extended my contract and was happy. I watched as the iPhone started to become popular, build momentum…. Next, the 3G was released. I was still in my contract with Verizon, so I quietly watched. Then this year, Apple released the iPhone 3GS. My contract ended with Verizon, and on July 3rd, I became the owner of a new iPhone 3GS. I ended up getting 2, one for me and one for Jackie.

So far, it is working out nicely. I am back on AT&T, and I am not sure if that is good or bad. That is because the last time I was with AT&T I had a AudioVox SMT 5600 which I liked very much. However, here in NC, things changed for the worse when Cingular bought AT&T wireless. When that happened back in 2004, AT&T had to give some NC subscribers to SunCOM. I was one of them :( . That effectively ruined my wireless signal and I had to change to Verizon.

So, now I am back.

More to come :)

The Saturday Ride

Today I went for a ride at Sherman Branch. Today, it was quite muddy, but they still opened the park. I had a good ride. It took me 1:11 to do the ride. Here is a link to the GPS data:

Summer time is here!

I haven’t blogged again in a while. Things have been crazy busy here! Back in september, we put our house on the market. We wanted to puchase a new house, and as the economy went downhill, we watched. By January, we finally decided to buy a new house, without selling the current home. We ended purchasing a home from Simonini Builders and couldn’t be happier. Finally, we sold our first home, and closed on it on May 27th. Now, we only have one home! Here is a quick pic of the house:

If you want to see what it looks link on the inside, the builder has a gallery here. Yes, we bought the exact same house as the model. This one is call the Fairmont.

Now that the boys are out of school things are slowing down. The pool is open and the boys are enjoying that! Now we need to get some more neighbors for the boys to play with!

Soda, Pop, or is it Coke?

I ran across this interesting graphic today:

Coke vs. Pop vs. Soda

I call it soda or pop and some times I say “get me a diet”. My parents *always* called it coke.

Interesting…

Do you rotate 5?

I do! Today I rotated the tires. I use the rearward cross method outlined in this pic.

We moved!

That’s right, we finally moved to our new house.  Things are pretty busy right now getting things organized, and getting used to our new location.  The boys love the new house since they each get their own room.  We hope to get our old house sold soon!

Could the Recession be from God?

Could it be that this current down turn in the local US economy is from God? The bible has plenty to talk about in regards to this, and you may want to watch this video. If you don’t want the video, you can read the text.

What do you think?

How crazy are things right now?

It seems that the last few weeks have been quite a crazy ride for the economy. Unless you have been living under a rock, you will know that some companies have made poor decisions in allowing some people to have mortgages that shouldn’t. When those mortgages started defaulting, an economic downward spiral began. On the way down, some major names in business went along with it. Who knows what is to come in the next month. Just check the news.

IS THIS NEW TO GOD?

Let’s look to the bible to see. How about Job 42:2:
“I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted.”

Or how about PSALM 115:3:
“Our God is in heaven; he does whatever pleases him.”

These verses speak to the sovereignty of God. There is nothing that happens that is not already known by God, so there will be no surprise to him. One more verse, Amos 3:6:

“When a trumpet sounds in a city, do not the people tremble? When disaster comes to a city, has not the Lord caused it?”

TAKE COMFORT

These verses help me experience comfort in knowing that God is in control, and he can’t be surprised by any calamity that comes into my life. He is there, reigning supreme, and has complete control of all things. I trust in Him for my salvation. I know that he has a plan for me, even in the calamity of all that is going on around me.

Do people believe things politicians say?

Today, I came across an article that makes me wonder if people really believe this. I understand his idea and his cause, but is it really empowered by a technology? Before Web 2.0 (however you define that) were we really missing something? Hardly. That is what causes him to come across as technically challenged. Don’t be fooled, web technology and getting a power grid or cleaner power online aren’t directly related as he would want you to believe.

WTB ExiWolfs are goooood!

Today I took the first ride on the new tires. It was a noticeable difference from the Bontrager Jones tires. The ride was smoother. I could tell the difference in volume. They rolled fine too! They seem to grip in the turns and I felt that I attacked the downhills even more since they inspired confidence. I am pleased with them!
